Denver’s Central Library to close for a month [Video]

The last day of limited public service at Central Library will be Sept. 19.

DENVER — Denver’s main library branch will be closing for at least six weeks.

Denver Public Library (DPL) said its Central Library will be closed to the public from Friday, Sept. 20, until Sunday, Nov. 3.

The library has been under construction since 2020. DPL said it needs the six-week closure to ready the building for its full grand opening.

DPL will host a public grand reopening at the Denver Central Library on Sunday, Nov. 3, with a public ribbon-cutting ceremony and community celebration.

DPL said the six-week closure will allow for furniture moving, the relocation of staff workspaces, and the moving of the entire collection to its new locations within the building.

The Denver Central Library curbside pick-up and holds window on 13th Avenue, phone, chat and email services will still be available during the public closure.
