The abandoned Ballenger Court Apartments complex in Flint is coming down to make way for new development.
FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – Demolition is under way at a blighted site on Flint’s west side.
Residents and community members say Ballenger Court Apartments have been an eyesore for over five years. Genesee County foreclosed on the property this year.
In August, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to purchase the blighted property. Local leaders say they now hope to restore the land to a green space.
McLaren Flint Hospital has expressed interest in the property due to its proximity to the health care campus. However, the hospital has not outlined any specific plans for the former Ballenger Court property.
