A state lawmaker has announced her intention to run for the New Orleans City Council. State Rep. Delisha Boyd, D-New Orleans, announced Friday her plan to run for the at-large position that will be vacated by Helena Moreno. Moreno announced she would be running for mayor earlier this week. Others possibly running for mayor include New Orleans Councilman Oliver Thomas and state Sen. Royce Duplessis. Boyd issued the following statement regarding her decision to run for council: “A New Vision for New Orleans: My Commitment to Our City”Over the past several months, I have been truly humbled by the outpouring of support and encouragement from citizens across New Orleans urging me to run for citywide office.
