Manchester, England – Manchester United manager erik ten Hag is hoping for a defensive boost as his team prepares to face Wolves on Boxing Day. Star center-back Matthijs de Ligt,who missed the last two matches due to illness,could be available for selection.
United’s defense has been porous in recent games,conceding seven goals in losses to Burnley and Manchester City. Ten Hag acknowledged the need for improvement, emphasizing the importance of avoiding further injuries to key players.
“it’s not about rotation to see the players and prepare for the future,” Ten Hag said in his pre-match press conference. “It’s simply to avoid injuries. Matthijs is sick, and Harry Maguire only played 90 minutes once in the last three months, against City. So we have to manage his workload.”
