Data from southern Indiana students, teachers affected by PowerSchool hack | Education [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A popular student information system used by New Albany Floyd County School Corporation was hacked.

The student data was compromised through PowerSchool could include names, social security numbers, birthdates and contact information.

PowerSchool provides a platform to assist districts with enrollment, communication, attendance and learning management. In total, the program provides the service for more than 60 million students.

NAFCS leadership some student and employee data was breached and it’s determining which data was compromised, working closely with PowerSchool to learn the full scope of the breach.

PowerSchool said the cybersecurity incident was contained, and there aren’t any disruptions.

“NAFC will continue to work closely with PowerSchool to learn the full scope of this breach and will continue to communicate with our families as we receive more information,” the district said in a written statement Thursday.
