DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) – Daphne High School’s Veterans Day ceremony brought the community together in a powerful tribute to honor the bravery and sacrifices of local veterans and active-duty service members.
The program began with a presentation showcasing photos of students and staff of veterans and an honor walk. A local choir performed the Armed Forces Medley and there was a formal presentation of the colors. Daphne’s Mayor Robin LeJeune delivered opening remarks, expressing the community’s respect for veterans and the sacrifices they have made.
One new addition to this year’s event was a Quilt of Valor presentation, giving handmade quilts to a handful of veterans. Among the recipients was Daphne City Councilman Douglas Goodlin, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel.
