Daniel Day-Lewis Is Out of Retirement to Act in Movie Directed by His Son Ronan [Video]

Daniel Day-Lewis is back in action.

The three-time Oscar winner, 67, who announced his retirement from acting in 2017, is set to star in a new film directed by his artist son Ronan, 26, Focus Features confirmed to PEOPLE.

Ronan’s directorial debut is titled Anemone and also stars Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley and Safia Oakley-Green.

Day-Lewis and his son also co-wrote the movie, which “explores the intricate relationships between fathers, sons and brothers, and the dynamics of familial bonds,” per a press release.

In a statement, Focus Features Chairman Peter Kujawski said, “We could not be more excited to partner with a brilliant visual artist in Ronan Day-Lewis on his first feature film alongside Daniel Day-Lewis as his creative collaborator. They have written a truly exceptional script, and we look forward to bringing their shared vision to audiences alongside the team at Plan B.”
