LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (KCTV) – Ready, set, go! Dachshunds from all over the metro took their marks at an annual racing fundraiser for an area rescue that focuses on small-breed dogs.
Randi’s Rockin Dachshund Rescue says that on Saturday, Oct. 19, the community gathered to watch a wiener-dog race for the ages at the 4th Annual Howl-O-Weenie fundraiser.
The event kicked off at 1 p.m. while dachshunds began to take their marks at 2 at the rescue, 16530 Springdale Rd. The event raises funds for the rescue.
The Rescue noted that dachshunds were not the only breed to have their dog-day, other small breeds were also welcome to join the “others” race. Attendees also were given the pleasure of a doggie costume contest, vendors and more.
Randi’s is an in-home licensed non-profit dachshund rescue that works to save members of the breed across the metro and beyond.
