Cynthia Erivo is again addressing whether she should have spoken out online about that viral fan-edited Wicked poster.
The actress, who stars as Elphaba in the movie musical opposite Ariana Grande as Glinda, issued a statement on social media in October slamming a version of her Wicked poster that was altered to match the iconic Broadway poster art, obscuring more of her face.
Erivo, 37, wrote that the manipulated poster was the “wildest, most offensive thing I have seen” and that “none of this is funny. None of it is cute. It degrades me. It degrades us.”
“The original poster is an ILLUSTRATION,” she added at the time. “I am a real life human being, who chose to look right down the barrel of the camera to you, the viewer … because, without words we communicate with our eyes.”
