Cybersecurity issue leads to empty shelves at Stop & Shop stores [Video]

BRISTOL, Conn. — Stop & Shop stores are running low on groceries after a cybersecurity issue reported earlier this week that’s impacting truck shipments.

Stop & Shop officials said an IT system outage is the reason behind empty shelves and low supply on some of the essentials. Shoppers in Bristol felt the impact.

“The chicken is gone,” Nicole Carpentieri of Terryville said. “There’s very little amount of meat left. Um you can see they’re trying to put up stuff for Thanksgiving but like stuffing was all I really saw.”

Customers have noticed the same thing when heading inside to make a grocery run.

“We came the other day, and we needed chicken and stuff like that, they didn’t have a very good selection,” John Lunnis of Bristol said. “Everything that was there wasn’t the best.”
