Region 1 School District reported that student and staff data had been impacted, while other districts said they were notified but had not been directly affected.
CONNECTICUT, USA — Connecticut schools on Wednesday reported a data breach of the student information system PowerSchool, leaving student and staff data compromised.
Region One School District located in Falls Village reported that their student data had been impacted by the breach, while public school districts in towns such as Newington, South Windsor and West Hartford said that they were made aware about the incident but that they had not been directly impacted.
According to Melony Brady-Shanley, superintendent of the Region 1 School District, PowerSchool reported that their system had a cybersecurity breach on Dec. 28, 2024, impacting school districts “locally, nationally and internationally.”
