Enrollment at the College of Southern Idaho has grown by nearly 1,300 students compared with last year.
According to the school’s fall enrollment headcount, there are 10,456 students taking classes compared with 9,167 last year, a 14% increase. This is the highest enrollment in at least 13 years. A big portion of the increase comes from dual enrollment, when high school students take college courses.
Jonathan Lord, vice president of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, said the college exists for the community and tries to meet students where they’re at, whether it’s high-schoolers, working people, or seniors. He said dual-credit enrollment has increased by at least 8% every year since he took the job 7 years ago.
“I’ve heard it this way and I truly believe that the community college can be the lifeblood of this location, of Twin Falls and the Magic Valley,” Lord said.
