Cruise boat strikes breakwater near Duluth [Video]

Multiple agencies were called Saturday night to the Wisconsin entry after the 100-ton ship hit the wall built to keep the tides at bay.

DULUTH, Minn. — One person was injured on Saturday night after a tour boat struck a breakwater near Duluth. 

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that 84 people were on board the Vista Star around 10:45 Saturday night when emergency crews got a report the vessel was against the breakwater but not taking on water. 

Crews were also told one person had been injured. When the U.S. Coast Guard responded, they evacuated the injured person and took them to Loon’s Foot landing, then to St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. Officials said one person injured their head and hip. 

Several other people were assessed for minor injuries, officials said.
