Crews battle large fire in Ogunquit [Video]

Crews from multiple towns responded to a fire in Perkins Cove Saturday night involving the Oarweed Restaurant and Uniques and Antiques shop.

OGUNQUIT, Maine — The cause of a large fire in Ogunquit is under investigation after a restaurant and store were extensively damaged by the flames Saturday night.

Crews were called to the Perkins Cove area around 7 p.m. and found a building located in the area of 61 Perkins Cove Road was heavily involved in the blaze, according to a Facebook post from the Ogunquit Fire Department.

A second alarm was struck and crews from multiple surrounding communities assisted at the scene, including Wells, Kennebunk, York Beach, York, North Berwick, South Berwick, Kittery, and Eliot. The York County Emergency Management Agency also offered support.

The fire caused “extensive damage” to Oarweed Restaurant and the Uniques and Antiques gift shop, the Ogunquit Fire Department said.
