Creating opportunities for all: City of Monroe partners with AT&T to close the digital divide [Video]

MONROE, La. (KNOE) – The City of Monroe and AT&T are partnering to bring fiber internet access to everyone inside city limits. Monroe is the first city in Louisiana to offer this.

In July, the Monroe City Council unanimously endorsed the first public-private partnership with AT&T to bring internet fiber access to all city residents.

The project will work on a rolling timeline over the next three years. Residents and businesses can opt into new benefits as they become available in their area.

David Aubrey, President of AT&T Louisiana, said this project is one way to close the digital divide.

“Approaches like this, where the public sector and private sector come together, are critical to removing barriers to connectivity,” Aubrey said. “Our team has the experience to do this well, and the city of Monroe is wise to make this happen.”
