CPD captain accused of attacking woman facing charges, police say [Video]

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A Cincinnati Police captain who is accused of attacking a woman was arrested today and charged in connection with an incident near Washington Square Park.

According to a press release from Cincinnati Police Sgt. Anthony Mitchell, CPD Capt. Brian Norris faces one count each of assault and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanor charges.

On Oct. 24, Cincinnati police responded to a report of an alleged assault on Elm Street near Washington Park between two people, the press release says. One of the people involved was a Cincinnati police captain.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the officer is accused of dragging and choking a woman and was taken into custody that night.

Capt. Norris’ police powers have since been suspended and he has been assigned to an administrative position pending the outcome of the case, the press release said.
