CPD apprehends protesters near the Israeli Consulate [Video]

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – More than 70 arrests were made Tuesday night during pro-Palestinian protests in downtown Chicago. That’s according to the National Lawyers Guild which is monitoring the demonstrations.

On day one of the Democratic National Convention, there was a clash between protestors and a steel fence along the security perimeter of the DNC on the West Side.

Day two saw the first significant clash between protestors and police at a pro-Palestinian protest outside the Israeli Consulate in the West Loop. There were arrests in both cases.

Tuesday night, the arrests came in the 7 p.m. hour when about 30 protesters, organized by the group Behind Enemy Lines, attempted to push west on Madison toward the United Center through a wall of police in riot gear holding a line at Clinton.

Things got heated when police held the line and protesters continued pushing, but order was soon restored and the remaining protesters …
