COVID summer surge starts with cases rising across 39 states, including Mass. [Video]

Cases of COVID-19 have started to see a surge across 39 states, including Massachusetts, coming ahead of the start of the summer season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

New data released by the agency on June 18 estimates that cases are growing or likely growing in those 39 states while in 10 states and territories, the number of cases is stable or uncertain, the CDC’s Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics said in an update.

No states are seeing a decline or likely decline in cases.

States are seeing what the CDC called probabilities of epidemic growth, with estimated values above one indicating epidemic growth. Massachusetts is seeing its epidemic status grow and is hovering just below one at 0.9945.
