ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials from the Cornerstone Community Center gathered today at the complex to celebrate their official ground-breaking on a new arena on Wednesday.
The new arena will feature a fourth ice rink that will seat 3,000 fans, while also bringing major hockey events to the area.
“We’re hoping to have it open and running by next fall,” Manager Don Chilson said. “We actually started planning for a fourth sheet in 2018.”
The COVID-19 pandemic put a pause on fundraising talks for the additional ice sheet, especially as concerns arose over the potential decrease in participation and ability to stay open. However, things went differently.
