FINDLAY, Ohio (WTVG) – The ‘Cops & Kids Go Shopping’ program in Findlay is seeking donations from the community amid inflation and increasing costs of items.
For some families, it’s a holiday tradition. Teresa White, the development director for Fort Findlay Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 20 Foundation, said this event is why local children have toys to open during the holidays.
“We give them each $200 and we set them loose in Meijer with their own personal police officer to help them spend it,” White said.
Fort Findlay FOP Lodge 20 Foundation organizes the event one morning during the holidays.
But, White adds she’s nervous. Prices for items have gone up and so has the need from families.
“I’m very concerned,” White said. “I don’t want to be the one to tell a mom, ‘No I’m sorry, we can’t take your kids this year.’”
The program is fully local …
