Cop on a Rooftop raising money for Special Olympics [Video]

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Dunkin’ Donuts customers may have had an unusual experience while getting their morning coffee as police officers from across the state were collecting donations from the cafe’s roof.

It’s the 9th annual Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser for Special Olympics Iowa. They hope to raise up to $40,000 by noon to help fund events and support Special Olympics athletes.

“I think it’s a great partnership, we do it a couple times a year, it’s for a good cause,” Officer Josh Carter with the Cedar Rapids Police Department said. “It puts smiles on people’s faces.”

Special Olympics Iowa organizers say it’s a great opportunity to spread awareness for their group.
