BASTROP, La. (KNOE) – A Morehouse Parish man was arrested for alleged drug, firearm and hunting violations, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
On Dec. 13, LDWF agents received information that a man had trespassed and was hunting in Oak Ridge. Agents surveilled the area and observed 45-year-old Christopher Barthol of Bastrop leaving the woods carrying a rifle and spotlight at 6:20 p.m.
The agents approached Barthol and learned that he was a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and that he had methamphetamine in his possession.
In a press release, LDWF said that Barthol allegedly admitted to using the spotlight to illegally hunt at night.
Barthol was arrested and booked into the Morehouse Parish Jail.
He was charged with possession of methamphetamine, illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, hunting deer during illegal hours and failing to tag a harvested deer.
