CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A controlled burn is set to begin Monday morning as city crews begin clearing trees and brush for the La Volla Creek Drainage improvement project.
Commuters can expect to see the controlled blaze in the area near Holly Road, Greenwood Drive and Saratoga Boulevard.
The burn is expected to last from Monday, Oct. 28 to Thursday, Oct. 31. It will only occur during daylight hours, and a water truck will be stationed at the site of the fire as a safety measure, per a press release from the city.
This project includes:
- Construction of a 130-acre detention pond and its supporting infrastructure
- Pond inlet and outlet structures
- Park improvements
- Wooden shelters/kiosks
- Wooden benches
- Landscaping
- Pedestrian trail signage
- Gravel parking lot
- ADA-compliant parking
- Gravel pedestrian trail from parking lot to pond
- Gravel maintenance road and pedestrian trail on top of pond berm.
