Auburn City Schools announced Wednesday, Jan. 8, that they are seeking community feedback on the name of the second high school that is anticipated to open in 2028.
In June 2024, ACS approved the purchase of additional land, moving the new high school one step closer to opening.
The approved land would allow for an additional access point to the new high school campus from North Donahue Drive.
At the time the land was approved, ACS public relations coordinator Daniel Chesser said ACS had not finalized the cost of the project and anticipated final estimated estimates in the August to September 2024 timeframe.
“Current estimates of total program cost for a second high school are just more than $200 million,” Chesser said to Opelika-Auburn News in June 2024.
There are no updates about the estimated cost at this time.
