Community rallying around former Muskogee High School football player who’s battling cancer | News [Video]

MUSKOGEE, Okla. — The Muskogee community is rallying around a former high school football player who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

The 19-year-old was just diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer.

FOX23 spoke with the family about how they’re dealing with the sudden news.

Teyon Brewer and his mother said the diagnosis was a complete shock, but now they’re taking each day as an opportunity to stay positive through it all.

Brewer is from Taft, which is a historic all-Black town. He graduated from Muskogee High School and went to Missouri Western State University on a full ride.

Brewer’s mother, Teyonda Ivy, told FOX23 that on his 19th birthday, he started feeling sick.

“He just got really sick. He started having some vomiting and some diarrhea and then he started having blood in the vomit and the diarrhea. So initially, we felt that it was just maybe a bug or …
