Community members voice opposition at Rapid City Council meeting for Vision Fund Revision Ordinance [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Following a successful effort to put Rapid City’s Vision Fund Revision Ordinance on the November ballot, dozens attended Monday’s Rapid City Council meeting to comment on their concerns with the proposed changes. Six members of the public spoke at the meeting, each criticizing proposed plans for the historic fund, which they argue would limit citizen input.

Though advocacy group Liberty and Justice for All’s petition got the ordinance on the ballot, speakers urged the City Council to rescind the ordinance entirely.

”If you take this to a vote, you don’t rescind this, guys, you’re gonna lose,” said Ranee McFarland Haglund, one of the speakers. “And it’s gonna cost Rapid City, it’s gonna cost these people and all the rest of us time and money that we simply can’t afford. I’d rather put that money towards …
