Community gathering to be held about proposed rural ranch to help homeless teens | News [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – An ambitious facility that aims to help teens struggling with homelessness is in the early stages of development. 

Scorpion Creek Ranch is the brainchild of Katie Brown, a restaurateur and entrepreneur born and raised in Eugene. 

The ranch would serve as a safe haven for teens struggling with homelessness and offer beds, a garden, farm animals, and educational curriculum that would foster teenagers between the ages of 14-18 as they navigate homelessness. 

On January 23, a gathering event is set to be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Wildish Theater in Springfield, where Brown will present the early developments of the ranch and an audience, that is expected to include both Eugene’s and Springfield’s mayors, will hear from a youth panel who will discuss …
