Community Development Block Grant listening session | News [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City will host a listening session to discuss housing and community development.

The goal of the session next Tuesday is to get feedback on how the city should utilize its Community Development Block Grant. The money comes from the U.S Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and are designed to focus on housing for low to moderate income households.

Rapid City Community Enrichment Division Manager Michelle Schuelke says, “This listening session will help us understand what type of housing we need. Where is it best suited and other potential services that can be coupled with housing.”

Feedback gathered at the session will help guide the city’s Annual Action Plan. But before any money is awarded, ideas are first vetted through a letter of interest process.
