Community collaboration brings exciting upgrades to Big Lake Park | Homepage [Video]

 The city of Big Lake is celebrating two new additions to one of its main parks. On Tuesday, October 15, The city installed new playground equipment just days after adding a new paved pathway from the parking lot to the fish viewing platform at Jay Nolfi Fish Park. 

According to Hugh Leslie, the Recreational Services Manager for the Mat-Su Borough, this new addition to the park is seen as a collaborative effort between Parks and Recreation and the Big Lake community. 

“It’s not just Parks and Recreation doing a project. It’s a whole community, not only here in Big Lake, but the borough as well,” said Leslie. “The entire project took on its own life and its own scope… And now we have the handicap pathway, and we also have a brand new addition to the playground.”
