Community clean up event planned after Toledo church vandalized [Video]

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A concerned citizen of the Historic Englewood District said the old Braden Church was broken into and vandalized. They also said people are living in the empty church located at 2013 Lawerence Ave.

Reggie Williams said someone spray painted graffiti inside the old Braden Church and the next day the doors of the church were removed from the front and side. He also found hate speech written inside the abandoned church.

Williams said the community’s main concern is to stand against the hate, clean up the grounds to make it safer and beautify the landmark. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, they will clean up the grounds of the church from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Volunteers are welcome to participate. Click here to sign up to volunteer for the clean up.
