COMMUNITY CLASSROOM: Teacher seeks donations to buy double-sided whiteboards [Video]

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – No student likes to make a mistake, but if they can erase it and start over, it makes it better.

That’s why Ms. Travaglia of Noble Middle School is asking for donations to buy double-sided whiteboards. She’s asking for donations through DonorsChoose, an online charity that helps teachers get funding for school projects.

“My goal for having these boards would be to get more students engaged in my lessons and attempting to solve problems,” Ms. Travaglia said on her DonorsChoose page. “If they are not trying the problem, for fear of making a mistake, they are not learning. They learn by making a mistake and correcting it.”

The math teacher needs $230. Once she is fully funded, DonorsChoose will purchase the whiteboards and deliver them to the school.
