Community celebrates 60th anniversary of Springfield Partners for Community Action [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Thursday was the 60th anniversary of Springfield Partners for Community Action, where those associated offered service to low-income residents of greater Springfield.

A gala was held in celebration, with Western Mass News’ very own Wesley Days emceeing the event and presenting awards to those who made a difference in the community.

One of those who won an award was Superintendent Lawrence Akers, and his community goals were in line with the organization’s.

“The reason that Springfield Partners for Community Action came together is to assist people, and to help people, and that’s exactly what I’m here for, you know, I’m here to assist people, help people, for almost 40 years that’s what I felt I wanted to do in this community. I ended up sticking it out, and this is what this organization is all about so I think it’s fabulous,” he shared.
