During a press conference on Tuesday, Columbus city officials addressed new programs they started in 2024 to address domestic violence cases in the city.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The City of Columbus held a news conference on Tuesday reviewing crime statistics from the past year.
Domestic violence was a big topic of conversation among city officials. Last year, there were 23 domestic violence homicides in Columbus.
“We were very optimistic going into 2024 and as we moved through 2024, there were some really heart-wrenching cases that we may all remember,” Columbus Police Asst. Chief Gregory Bodker said.
Bodker said several new initiatives were deployed last year in an effort to combat these cases. One of those efforts was a pilot program launched in the west side of the city, where the highest number of domestic violence calls were stemming from.
