College Station tight end Jackson Verdugo announced his commitment to Charlotte Monday morning on social media.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pound senior chose the 49ers over a long list of schools as Verdugo had 24 offers. Some of the schools he held offers from included Sam Houston, UTEP, North Texas, Yale, Princeton and Louisiana Tech.
So far through two games, Verdugo has caught nine passes for 102 yards and one touchdown. In three seasons on varsity, he has caught 45 passes for 1,444 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Verdugo is a multi-sport athlete as he is also a forward on the boys basketball team.
