College Station owned Macy’s building received no bids [Video]

City officials confirmed on Monday that the city-owned former Macy’s building in the Post Oak Mall received no official bids during their initial request for bids.

The city of College Station began soliciting bids for the former Macy’s building in October 2023 in the hopes that interested parties could use the location as a “dynamic activity center for the community, fostering growth and engagement for years to come.”

The Macy’s building was purchased by the city in August 2022 and bids for the building officially closed in December.

“Although the initial request for bids did not result in formal submissions, we’re encouraged by the ongoing interest several parties have expressed in the former Macy’s property,” city staff said in a statement Monday. “Before releasing the request for bids, the City engaged in preliminary discussions with a potential buyer interested in redeveloping the site.
