Cocke County food pantry low on donations after reopening [Video]

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A Cocke County food pantry that recently reopened says it isn’t getting enough donations for all of its clients.

The director of the Bread Basket, Trish Clapper, said food donations are not coming in like they expected and that they need more supplies for their new building.

“We need heat in our building. We need doors put in. We need double doors. We need a roll-up door in the front. There’s so many things we need to help our community,” Clapper said. “Our shelves are really empty. We’re not even sure if we have enough food to make it through the New Year.”

Clapper said it is a blessing they have a new building, but they won’t be able to provide Thanksgiving meals to people. She said they usually give 800 Thanksgiving meals a year and that could be a similar story next month for Christmas.
