Cobb Schools restricts computer access for teen who hacked districts network; family files complaint [Video]

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – No computer access for all of high school – that’s the punishment one Cobb County student is facing after hacking into the district’s computer system.

Javier Arias is 14 years old and slated to start his freshman year at North Cobb High School next week. The teen is on the autism spectrum, but his family calls him a “computer prodigy” who plans to pursue a career in cybersecurity.

“His niche is computers. That’s the only thing he’s interested in. That’s the only thing that he’s excelled tremendously in,” Javier’s grandmother Patricia Skellie said.

Javier’s family says he did not maliciously enter the district’s system to steal any private information, but rather hacked in out of curiosity.
