Workers at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport protested Tuesday afternoon, expressing concerns about “lack of basic protections” from American Airlines and their employer, ABM. Members of the Service Employees International Union and airport staff highlighted issues such as access to water, cool break rooms, and heat illness training, particularly during the sweltering summer months. According to WBTV, in July, meteorologists reported dangerously high heat and humidity. This protest follows previous demonstrations at the airport, including a June strike for respect and fair wages and another for Worldwide Flight Attendant Day of Action.
