Climavision and A&M install new weather radar system [Video]

After 50 years of service, the old weather radar on top of the Eller Oceanography and Meteorology Building will enjoy retirement as a new Climavision X-band radar sits ready to take its place.

Texas A&M partnered with Climavision, a climate-tech company, to install a new weather radar which will be installed officially on Saturday if weather permits. The radar will track weather patterns for around 60 miles in every direction and could improve emergency weather response times. A&M joins Millersville (Pa.) University as university partners with Climavision.

Tara Leigh Goode, vice president of strategic partnerships and radar operations at Climavision, said their partnership with A&M started around 18 months ago.
