CLEMSON, S.C. (WSPA) – Clemson’s mayoral candidates faced off in a local candidate forum ahead of Election Day.
Incumbent Mayor Robert Halfacre and Council Member Catherine Watt participated in the event Monday. They were questioned about business development, creating a balance between residents and the needs of Clemson University, infrastructure and underserved communities.
“The five priorities for the next four years are staying focused on staying fiscally responsible, following through with our current efforts of workforce and attainable housing, continuing to enhance our town relations, following through with our efforts in investing infrastructure projects and long-range planning,” Halfacre said.
“My primary goals as mayor include stopping purpose building of student housing developments,” Watt said. “They aren’t needed, and they aren’t repurposed.
