City partnering with different agencies to reimagine Northeast YMCA redevelopment and create 22 additional housing units [Video]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – East Birmingham neighbors are excited about the new development coming to their area in 2025.

The City of Birmingham has approved $1 million to reimagine the Northeast YMCA and add more than 20 homes to the Roebuck community.

People are excited in the Roebuck neighborhood in particular. Neighborhood President Becky Wallace says this is massive for her community and the redevelopment will be a wonderful addition to the neighborhood.

“It is going to be a very good use of that property because it is going to have housing, it’s going to have a little park, the YMCA is going to be rejuvenated and I think it is just going to be great,” said Wallace.
