MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Friday afternoon, Housing and Community Development Director Ashley Cash gave some insight on the city’s weatherization programs amid winter weather in the city.
The program is designed to assist those with low income to be able to lower their energy costs.
The program provides HVAC repairs, heat pumps, duct and insulation assistance.
“This is so critical and so important to our residents because Memphis has one of the highest energy burdens in the country,” Cash said.
Cash says people spend up to 13% of their income on energy costs.
