City of Tyler approves development, renovation for two city parks [Video]

TYLER, Texas — Tyler City Council authorized the filing of an application for a Local Parks Grant to develop Stewart Park and W.E. Winters Park on Wednesday.

The city announced the authorization for this grant application from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in a press release Friday. Stewart Park will be the first park since September 2004 nearly 20 years ago to be introduced to the city of Tyler. The application, if approved, would grant $500,00 worth of grants for the development of Stewart park through a matching grant program. 

T.B and Gladys Stewart donated nine acres alongside Frankston Highway for the development of the park in 2012. The donation included the Stewart home, built by T.B Stewart from scratch. The city plans to salvage parts of the home to create a pavilion …
