City of Rutland and Rutland Free Library propose consolidation concept to residents [Video]

While in its early stages, a pitch is being made to residents in Rutland. The current concept takes city hall and the Rutland Free Library and would move them into one building on Merchant’s Row. The Asa Bloomer Building is currently owned by the state. Library Director Randal Smathers said the space would be smaller but more open and easier to maintain.”We’re going from 26,000 square feet spread over five floors to 22,000 square feet on one floor, from a really old building to a relatively new building,” he said.
