REDDING, Calif. – The Redding Rodeo grounds have been at their location on Auditorium Drive since they began in 1948. Their current lease with the city expires on August 1, 2029, but the Redding Rodeo Association wants a long-term lease now so they can get the funding they need to make improvements and renovations to their facility. The Redding City Council voted four to one to form an ad hoc committee to work out the details of a long-term agreement.
Recent changes from the California Housing and Community Development (HCD), along with the city working to finalize its Riverfront Specific Plan, have caused some to fear that the city would consider selling that land, leaving the rodeo to find a new home.
