OLATHE, Kan. (KCTV) – The City of Olathe is partnering with Variety Children’s Charity of Greater Kansas City to bring six water wheelchairs to the aquatic facilities in Olathe.
These chairs allow access to water for Olathe residents through zero-depth entry.
The first chair is available at the Olathe Community Center. Black Bob Bay, Oregon Trail Pool, Mill Creek Pool, Frontier Pool and the Beach at Lake Olathe will all have chairs in summer 2025.
“We are incredibly excited to partner with Variety KC to enhance accessibility in our facilities,” City of Olathe Recreation Manager Shannan Broughton said. “This collaboration represents a meaningful step toward creating spaces where everyone, regardless of ability, feels welcome and empowered.
