LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Heavy rains and winds in Lincoln Monday night into Tuesday led to flash flooding and downed trees throughout the Capital City.
At least one vehicle was swallowed up in the waters at 48th Street and Cornhusker Highway under the train overpass.
On O Street early Tuesday morning, drivers were moving through high waters near 13th and 14th streets.
A Novel Idea Bookstore put out a plea on social media asking for towels and volunteers to help move damaged books from flooding there.
The city of Lincoln wants to remind residents how to report downed trees if they come across them:
- For trees blocking City streets or sidewalks, contact the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) non-emergency number, 402-441-6000. Do NOT call 911. LPD is keeping a list of areas and reporting those to the Community Forestry crews.
