City of Jacksonville ends contract with Cure Violence [Video]

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — City leaders approved a final payment that would officially end the contract between the City of Jacksonville and the organization Cure Violence.

The teams include violence interrupters and outreach workers who are tasked with maintaining a presence in the communities they serve and working with community members on anti-violence initiatives.

In the city’s 2023-24 budget, over $3.5 million was allocated to Cure Violence programs. But, a contract between Cure Violence and the city expired in January 2024 and city leaders say they have been evaluating whether to continue with the group.
