GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The City of Greenville has provided updates on the city’s plan for road clearing after Helene.
Councilwoman Dorothy Dowe posted on social media that the City of Greenville has contracted with a debris hauler and a debris monitoring group to assist with storm cleanup.
Dowe warned that debris cleanup will likely take weeks. The debris must be cleared from roadways before it can be removed. Removal is not expected until mid-week, Dowe said.
The Greenville City Manager reports the city is working with Duke Energy on removing trees that have power lines on top of them. Duke Energy must check to make sure power lines are not live before trees can be cut and removed, the city manager said.
According to the Greenville City Manager, Duke Energy is bringing in extra crews that will set up station at Haywood Mall and the convention center.
