City of Chico forming a committee that focuses on city growth | [Video]

CHICO, Calif. – The City of Chico is forming a committee that focuses on city growth.

The city wants the committee to consist of people who are pro-growth and who want to see developments happen.

Council member Addison Winslow is working alongside fellow council member Tom Van Overbeek to start this committee. 

Winslow told Action News Now that the goal is to have representatives from the development community and smart growth advocates both take part in this effort. 

Winslow said he feels optimistic that the growth community development committee can boost the city’s growth to bring more affordable housing. 

“I think that there’s a huge opportunity for consensus between the pro-housing elements of the Valley’s Edge supporters and the pro-housing elements of the opposition—smart growth advocates,” Winslow said.
